Big Breasts
The size of the breasts tend to increase as a woman reaches the age of 35, particularly if she has been pregnant. Most of this enlargement is due to depositon of fat, and although the Western culture approves of large breasts in a young woman, they are not so desirable in later years because instead of being high and firm, they are pendulous and floppy.
Exercises are of little help. In many cases, the large breasts cause no problems, except the psychological one of feeling ‘different”. When the breasts are very large, some women get high backache, others get shoulder pain, and because of the swings of the breasts during tennis or golf some develop breast pain.
The size of the breasts can be reduced by surgery - called reduction mammaplasty. The operation consists of removing an appropariate amount of breast tissue, and usually of moving the position of the nipple. Before deciding to have a reduction mammaplasty, a woman should take careful thought. She may decide that a well-designed and well-fitting bra is all she needs, but if she chooses surgery she needs to select a skilled plastic surgeon to obtain the best result.
Extra Breasts
In other mammals more than one breast on each side is normal. In the human, too, a breast(or at least a nipple) can develop anywhere along the breast line, which extends from the armpit to the public bone. The most usual site for the extra breast is in the armpit.
The extra breast, which has a nipple, appears as a ‘tail’ of the nomal breast. In a few women nipples are found at other places along the breast line. No treatment is required.

Polymastia (supernumerary breasts) and polythelia (supernumerary nipples) are extras in sites unexpected. These anomalies appear more so in women than men. The full spectrum of extra parts — from nipples to fully formed breasts — is wide-ranging. Polymastia may be seen as a normally shaped female breast with a nipple and areola. In attenuated forms it may be breast tissue with nipple lacking areola, glandular tissue with areola but without nipple, or only ectopic breast tissue with neither areola nor nipple.

April 1, 2004
Hong Kong - A woman in cental China who paid for breast enlargement surgery ended up with an unwanted bonus - two extra breasts.
The 24-year-old woman found the extra breasts growing on her stomach one year after she underwent surgery in a clinic in Hunan province.
The extra breasts grew and grew until the woman was forced to undergo a second operation to get rid of them, according to the Hong Kong edition of the China Daily on Wednesday.
The initial operation was carried out at a small beauty salon, which was unauthorised to carry out breast enlargement surgery, the newspaper said.
Cosmetic surgery has boomed in popularity in China in recent years but there is little official regulation of the industry.
