Checklist For New Employee Hires
Employees are assets to a company. A company can only function if there are employees to do work for them, the employers. An employer who do not have full knowledge and experience of a business, but have enough capital to start a business, is especially important to hire the right employees to help him/her out in such cases. Every business every different types of employees and qualification. However, basically to recruit or hire new employees can be fast in some cases, but it may be time consuming and also careful when a employer wants to hire the right employee, a good employee who can really bring benefits to the company in the long run. Here are some checklist for new employee hires. They are listed according to priority with the most important factors on top and the least important at the bottom.
1. Personal Data
This is the most basic information which every company will find out about an employee from their resume or job application form. Important particulars to be obtained are:
Name, Date of birth, National Identification Number, Sex, Address, Country of Birth, Nationality and marital status, number of dependents, bank account number.
- Family Background
Family background is directly linked in the first option, personal information.
If married, number of children, spouse’s name, spouse’s occupation, spouse’s date of birth and spouse National Identification Number, children’s particulars is also important — children’s name, children’s date of birth, and children’s Birth Certificate Number.
It is important to know the marital status of the employee as a married person, especially with children or dependents, would be more committed and serious in their job application. If they are single, then knowing their position in the family, such as youngest or eldest, is also useful.
2. Revelevant Knowledge and Qualification
This can be part two of the job application form or within the resume too. It is essential to know what the employee study and what subjects he/she is better at.
Providing columns of schools attended, year of studies and completion of courses, subjects taken and grades obtained are necessary.
3. Personality
Personality is important as what I have mentioned before in my other post http://www.helium.com/tm/99658/employees-always-expectations-their . Prior to interview, the employee can be asked to take a personality test, such as DISC or others, and during interviews, here are some questions which can tell the personality of a person.
- Tell me something about yourself
- What is your greatest strength and weakness
- What is your greatest achievement
- What is your regrets in life
- What is the most embarrassing moment
- How he/she can help the company
- Why he/she think that he/she is suitable for the job
- Why the company must give him/her the job
Case studies designed by companies can be given to employees too.
4. Skills & Job Experience
a. To know the intelligence of the employee, some employees have to take intelligence test before interviews. Other information like scholarships, extracurricular activities, his/her hobbies, competitions participation or other awards winning should be asked filled up too.
Others:
-language spoken (that is types of languages the employee knows)
-language proficiency (that is best spoken and best written language)
-driving licence, if any: what class licence
-own a car?
b. Job Experience
This should provide column of year of working, companies working for, position title and job duties and reasons for leaving the company.
5. Salary Expectation
This provided in the job application form, an open space where they can state a specific number or a range of salary expectation in the job application form.
6. Past History
These can be found out during interviews and in job application form. Necessary information in job application form to be filled by employees are: criminal records such as jail before a not, any mental health problems, bankruptcy, and other past history which employee would want to tell the companies such as reasons for leaving the companies which might not be elaborated in the job-application form.
Others:
-any disabilities eg. deaf
-any existing illness and past medical history eg. cancer therapy
-any dangerous diseases like HIV
7. Dates
-When can the employee start work
-If working currently, how many months notice must be given to company and earliest to start work.
8. References
This provide 2 person whom is closer to the employee where the employer can ask them for reference. It also serve the purpose of the employee filling up genuine information. Important information are: name, address, Date of birth or age, occupation and the telephone number.
