Does It Benefit Anybody

This is the person who created the fire. She seems to be Eve. Yesterday I saw more comments adding on to her website. Is it a conspiracy or is it mere coincident? There are office politics. Over here in the internet, there are internet politics.
By now I am very tired of all these ramblings and rants, very sick of it. Because of this kind of people, and of course there are many more types of people which causes so many unhappiness and unrest to these world. People are often finding faults with one another, lack empathy and forgiveness.
I had mentioned in my post last night about sltopsite. It is incomplete if I never mention this but mention the follower.

For me, this whole SL-blog-thing should not be a ‘popularity contest’.
I consider the person behind SLprofiles to be a would be spammer.
He only wants all the blogs to refer to sltopsites.com so that more people arrive there to click his ads. So that he can make money. No added value at all. He is not interested in SL sites or their content. He only wants the traffic they/you generate.
Have you try blog explosion blog contest? It was so hot at that time, I have not been to blog explosion for quite sometime and I am not sure whether their blog battle is still on a not. Sltopsites I have no vested interest at all and all the contest and issue money is not my style of working at things. However, standing at anyone’s position, as a businessman, as a person who work, this is a creative idea and an interesting one, like blog battle at blogexplosion.
As for his way of promoting his website, sltopsite, he is not the only one doing it. Put yourself in these people shoes. I am not only saying for sltopsites, but business in general. I have advertiser which place links with me, but still left comments on my blogs. What is their purpose? They are legitimate business. They don’t rob, they don’t kill, they never harm you in any way. They are merely helping people. They do not know who may need their help someday. Everybody don’t like insurance. So if you come across an insurance website advertisements, you regard it as nuisance, spam if it happens frequently. Why target at a particular site when there are more sites that are doing that? Spend your energy into good use. Help us to curb spammers, not expose spammers. You can set up “internet police station” and you can patrol the internet and catch all these ’spammers’ if you want. That is helping people to solve problems. But are you getting anywhere? What good are you doing to anybody here writing things like that?
He says the best ranking site gets a price and that the winner should IM him to get his Linden Dollars. Yet he did not notify the winner of his win. Smells fishy, right? Even if that was an honest mistake, 2000L$ is way less then what it would cost him to buy links/ads on websites. So – again – the only one benefiting from this is him.
Excuse me, to everybody out there, as a wife, I never get his support. I am always supporting him despite whatever things he had done. That does not mean that I like the way he does things too. He is forking out his own money, his purpose? To have a successful website. In any website, the owner successful, the members successful. Just like PayPerPost or Helium. If they are successful, members are happy for them. If they are in no way of values to me or I have no faith in them, then I just leave. Why choose to hurt anybody and cause them further harm? Nobody wold like to fail in anything. Just like ReviewMe. I have not got money from them till today and not heard from them eversince I join. So what if there is privacy statement, so what if there is disclaimer? Of course it looks professional and nice. But the real thing behind? Can you see? I sign up numerous accounts. How my emails get disclose? On your part, you need to take your own precautions. Nobody is an angel. To err is human. Give people a chance to learn and to experience for themselves.
He did not pocket ANY money. He is too generous with money. He gives out money too easily. I did not even know that he had such contest until I received an email from him. This email is the email which I sign up when I register for sltopsite. If he would have communicate with me, ask me for opinion of contest or whatsoever, I would not have agreed to such things. We are not rich family and sad to say, and its a fact, every month, there are debts awaiting to be paid. Am I not stressful? Am I trying to create more traffic here for nothing? Google Adsense is a way of earning money. Tell me how much can you earn on google adsense alone? If google adsense is so fantastic, everybody can resign from their work and do their websites at home. Quit job, gossip on the web, people come, click your web, you earn money. Sound so easy.
Sound fishy or not, you don’t have to hurt the lives of people to know whether your answer is right or wrong. There are so many dubious websites on the internet. Aren’t you going to shoot at all of them? Why sltopsites only? Probably you have, I never find out. But anyway, in my opinion, it is better not do that. If sltopsites are cheating money, is fraud in anyway, creating nuisance and of no values AT ALL to anybody, and you can ‘arrest’ these sites. But why demoralise people with all these generalisation. There are people who are happy with the contest. Sltopsite cannot ‘listen’ to all the people. He is the site owner and he got the rights. If he had infringed on anything, the respective accounts he signed up with will suspend him. Just like walking on the street, sales people approach you. You do not want to buy anything, just walk away. Do not scold them, criticize them or their products. They are doing their job. Nobody would want to stand in the hot sun or stand in the street to sell you something, if they have a choice to play.
He lets you add a visitor tracking script on your site. Do you want him to know exactly who your readers are, where they come from, what they search for? That’s not his business!
No disclaimer on his site concerning privacy. What will he do with your e-mail address? And what with all the other data he gathers through the visitor tracking script?
If you do not understand how everything works, you can always send him an email and have a good discussion. In doing this way, you can always help people to improve on themselves.
My suggestions on this dubious attempt at gathering ‘Second Life Top Sites’:
* Remove the tracking code from your website.
* Remove all links to SLtopsites.com from your site.
* Ignore him/SLtopsites.com
Is sltopsites doing a serious threats to SL people or any other community that he deserves such unfair condemnation? He may have done me wrong. He may have commit adultery. He may have so many flaws. But he also have his values, he had helped numerous tenants too. This may be his business, I would not wish to see such things happen. The government has the yellow ribbon project. We give prisoners a chance to change over a new leaf. We allow children to learn from their mistakes. We only have a life to learn. We don’t have twice. Why so many people are having mental problems, depression, bipolar disorders and so on? Human interaction is the leading cause of everything. One small act can lead to a life time of regrets. You may not know how much you had done to others. But spare a thought for other people. Put yourself as if you are in other people’s shoes and you would understand.
This is the winner for the contest. $1000L to be won for their ‘popularity contest’. How everything is carried out I do not know, but email was really sent. If he had missed the email (might be in junk mail or he forget which email account he had sign up his account), then he would not know. But if no emails were sent, how somebody know? If you consider all these spam, then this is a quiet world. Sales people cannot talk about their sales products too. How much is $1000L? It is less than $5. In second life, how much money can you made in one day? If this is just a worthless site, leave it. Leave sltopsite. Don’t take the money. Return the money if you really think it is just a spam and a scam. Go create one similar site with google ads and see if you can make more than $5 per day with a PR of 0!
There is no hard feeling on anybody. I do not blame Vint. Everybody got their own ideas. At least she knows where she stands at not follow people blindly. It is only through receiving comments and opinions that we can always improve on ourselves. However, we want to have a better place to live in. We want to have peace and harmony.
