Heart of Woodlands

By peace | April 12, 2008

Tropical Woodlands
This is indeed a tropical rainforest I am living in, the modern tropical rainforest, urbanized, with all the birds adapted to modern living, and I had felt the existence of God, the unseen force that can hear me, the unseen force that ‘control’ our lives, the animals’ lives.

Miss The Rain, Had been too busy with Life
I can smell the rain, it’s been such a long time since I had this kind of smell again — the smell of the rain. My sister said,”Rain got smell one mie?” Yes, rain got smell, and I love this smell, I am smelling now, and the cool breeze that blown onto my face, my body. That is the perfect temperature I want, the perfect temperature for any kind of activity — not too cold and not too hot.

Mind Your Own Business
Just as I was mentioning Singapore is a urban tropical rainforest, with all the birds living in co-existence with people. How nice this can be. Not only birds, all the pets dogs, cats and rabbits are living happily with Singaporean owners.

Sigh…Long forgotten about the sky
Everyday I heard baby birds crying for their mothers, perhaps waiting to be fed. So many baby birds produced and so many birds all busy flying around. For the first time, I walked with my head looking up always. Before that, birds on land are what I used to see — the pigeons, myna, sparrow and few occasion the egrets.

The clouds used to show animals….当年情
Time flies, and I am no longer in my teens or a youth now. Looking back, my life is just fulfilling what God has for me. And I am happy that I come this far, and discovered these much.

Heart of Woodlands
As mentioned, I found peace that very day, and I had the most wonderful breakfast with the birds at Woodlands Ave 1, the place where I could sit down, have a bowl of duck noodle soup, watching the birds playing, and watching busy people walking on the pathways. That is the place where our Singapore American School is also.

While I was eating and enjoying bird-watching, Richard was reading the newspaper, Straits Times. I did not want to lose this wonderful inspiration. I took out my notebook and I started to write down all my inspiration.

Breakfast With The Birds
That morning, as it was very early, most workers had not gone there to have meals. No one was smoking. It was fresh air I had, and wonderful hearty experience and peace I had. Not only did I see sparrows, myna and pigeons, it was Philippine Glossy Starling(Aplonis panayensis) I saw — the bird with red eyes and shiny greenish-black plumage. First time I see this kind of birds. There were two of them, perching on the palm tree, Macarthur Palm — Beautiful, Beauty and how wonderful experience, breakfast with the birds, better than at the bird park!

Philippine Glossy Starling(Aplonis panayensis): This picture is taken in the afternoon, about 1230pm, after the children finished their school’s sports day event, we had lunch here again, and this time I had the opportunity to take this picture…

You don’t disturb them, they don’t disturb you
Upon finishing, I saw the sparrows flying over to eat the leftovers from the next table. That reminded me of my childhood days — the bird that I used to have….

The perfect air which air purifier cannot even give you
He was never interested in bird-watching or nature appreciation. He said,”Got nothing to see.” After that, we cycled to Woodlands Town Garden, where I continued my birds watching and nature appreciation. That was the time where I had such a good breath of fresh air, just like now. The fresh air began to come back…. I can even smell the smell of durian flowers from here, my house now, the special fragrance of durian flowers smell…. the first time I experienced, first time I see real durian flowers…..

The Natural Power Within
This is the day I found inspiration and motivation, the natural power within, the natural power that is God-inspired and natural response of mine.
