The Heart Beat

Besides breathing, what is the other thing we would know if a person is alive a not? It is the heart beat. Once the heart stop beating, there would be no breathing either. This is because all the cells in our body need oxygen in order to function. The heart is the main organ which supplies oxygen to all the cells in our body. Without oxygen, other organs in our body cannot function well, and without oxygen, the heart itself cannot function too.
The heart is a marvellous organ with special muscle different from the rest of the muscles of our body. I had always been curious about how the body work, and what is within our body. I used to buy CDs on our Human Body, and various other resources and information on our human body such as the heart, lungs, and so on. Heart Attack is the number one causes of death according to World Health Organization. My paternal grandmother died of heart attack (as what was written in her death certificate — if the diagnosis was correct). She never had a chance to say her last words to family members. Her heart just stopped beating, and she was motionless. Her family did not expect her to ‘leave’ like that.
