Lift Up Your Heart
By peace | February 19, 2010
Sighting of an American Bald Eagle flying above me on the pathway walking to Causeway Point.
This is not the first time I had seen an eagle. But this is the first time I had an eagle in Singapore and not in bird park or the zoo, but in the street of Singapore — it was at close range and I could so clearly see its colour and outline of the body, the head etc. It was so clear that it is an eagle, an American Bald Eagle that I saw. I was so inspired, so filled with surprise and amazement. I was walking to Causeway Point as usual, my normal pathway. I was on my way to take the train to go City Hall MRT.
The eagle flew and swirl round over my head, flying in a circle or two. I quickly take out my camera to shoot the beautiful moment. It flew higher and by the time I had taken a shot of it, it flew away from my sight. Clara saw it as well. We were both marvelled.
The eagle reminded me of the song, On Eagle’s Wings which I had learned from the church. It was a nice song and today as I listen again to the song, my eyes were filled with tears. Water crowd my eyes as I was touched, very touched.
Symbolism of the Eagle
Is this another message God trying to convey to me…. On the same day, First I saw the peaceful dove. I did not take any pictures, thinking that the birds just happened to be there. It was two, not one, but a pair of adult peacful doves — “…the kind that I reared when I was a kid.” I told Clara. It was at the dinosaur playground then. Next we walked and saw Pigeons, lots of pigeons with various colours and behaviour…
The school song of Jurong West Secondary School:
… Perched proudly as we see our destiny,
We’ll be where dreams turn to reality,
Yes, we will soar, touch the sky, move the earth
We’ll make a diff-er-ence, where eagles dare!
2. Challenges come but we dare
To overcome them all
With our powerful wings and eagle eyes
We’ll meet the challenges with our claws without a sight
Oh yes, we will fly to the sky.
Adversity, am I going to overcome my difficulties? How am I going to overcome my difficulties… who will know my true heart feeling…
In every adversity there lies the seed of an equivalent advantage. In every defeat is a lesson showing you how to win the victory next time. ~ Robert Collier
Puma cat spotted by Clara, some distance away from the church on our way home on Chinese New Year Mass.
Is it coincidence or is it God is with me? Is this another reaffirmance that God is my shield?
During this Chinese New Year, as usual, in my family, I am the one who look the worst… is the worst indeed (shall elaborate in another post). I was feeling bad about it. But is this all the comfort and strength God has given me. I am so grateful that even nature has such a power to lift our spirit.

[...] The eagle, a mighty and majestic ruler of the skies, is portrayed as double-headed, with one head looking back to the past and the other looking ahead to the future. The double-headed eagle represents the college’s tradition of constantly drawing strength from past achievements and at the same time, forging ahead with an eye on a brighter future. [...]
