(a) Having a needle inserted into the uterus, near the growing baby, sounds scary, but every precaution is taken to ensure the baby’s safety. The ultrasound enables the doctor to find a pocket of amniotic fluid at a safe distance from the baby. As soon as the needle is in place, the sharp point is withdrawn so that even if the baby reaches out and touches the tube he or she will not be harmed.

(b) Many women now have the option of having earlier testing to determine whether their baby has Down syndrome. In chrionic villus sampling (CVS), some fragment of the placenta is removed for chromosomal analysis. The advantage of this test is that it can be done up to 5 weeks earlier than amniocentesis.

How Accurate, Reliable, and Safe Is The Test?
Amniocentesis does carry some risks for the pregnancy. The risk is around 0.25 to 0.5 percent, i.e. 1 in 200 to 1 in 400 women will miscarry after an amnio). The chances of miscarriage are higher if there are problems during the procedure itself. If there are no obvious problems, the chances of losing the baby as a result of the procedure are very low.

Amniocentesis is associated with a risk of miscarriage as well as an even smaller risk (minimized with ultrasound guidance) that the needle may puncture the fetus. Other complications, though rare, can include cramping, vaginal bleeding, and the leaking of amniotic fluid. Thus, amniocentesis is normally offered only to women whose risk of having a genetically abnormal fetus is greater than 1 in 200. All women over the age of 35 run such a risk, as do women who know that they and their partner are carriers for genetic defects such as sickle cell anemia, Tay-Sachs disease, one of the thalassemias, or cystic fibrosis, or who have family members with a history of genetic disease. Amniocentesis is not necessary if only one member of a couple is a carrier.

Amniocentesis, even when performed as early as 10 weeks, is very reliable at detecting conditions such as Down syndrome which result from chromosomal abnormalities, but other malformations can occur during fetal development owing to non genetic causes, and these would not be picked up by amniocentesis.

Some women are so determined to have their baby, regardless of problems, they feel having the test is an unnecessary risk.

In the uterus, the baby is protected and cushioned by amniotic fluid within an amniotic sac. The amniotic fluid mainly consists of the baby’s urine together with some cells from his or her skin and urinary tract. With amniocentesis, a sample of this fluid is withdrawn and cells are collected and grown in the lab….

Amniocentesis is done as an outpatient procedure and takes about 20-40 minutes. (most of this time is for the ultrasound part of the procedure). After the test is done, the woman will be advised to take it easy for the remainder of the day.

How Is Amniocentesis Performed?
A woman undergoing amniocentesis lies on an examination table with her abdomen uncovered. With the aid of ultrasound, the physician guides a thin needle (usually about 3.5 inches long) through the abdomen into the uterus and amniotic sac. (see photograph above). About 1 ounce of amniotic fluid, which contains cells sloughed off by the fetus, is then withdrawn by a syringe attached to the needle. The actual procedure takes about 5 minutes and can be performed on an outpatient basis in either a doctor’s office or a hospital. The test will be carried out by a doctor with the assistance of an experienced medical sonographer who will use ultrasound to get a clear view of the woman’s uterus. The abdomen will be wiped with antiseptic before the doctor inserts the needle through it into the amniotic cavity inside the womb. It is relatively painless but some women may notice some cramping as the needle goes through the wall of the uterus, rather like menstrual cramping. Women who have been through the procedure describe the test as uncomfortable than painful. Once the amnio is complete the doctor may monitor you for a minute or so to make sure that the fetus is still well and you can go home safely at the end of the procedure.

The fluid is sent to a laboratory, where the fetal cells are cultured and analyzed for chromosomal defects through a procedure known as karyotyping. At the same time, the level of alpha fetoprotein (AFP) in the amniotic fluid is measured to determine the possibility of a neural tube defect.

It generally takes about 2 weeks for results to come in, depending on what is being measured. Some new techniques not yet widely available require only 24 to 48 hours. AFP results are usually available within a few days of the test. Most women are anxious to hear from their physician as soon as possible, especially if they are considering terminating the pregnancy in the event of an abnormality.

Amniocentesis is most commonly used in pregnant women over the age of 35 to detect chromosomal abnormalities, particularly Down Syndrome (trisomy 21) . The risk of chromosomal defects is known to increase with maternal age, and generally after age 35 the risk of bearing a child with a chromosomal abnormality is greater than the risks connected with the procedure. Amniocentesis cannot determine the severity of Down Syndrome or any other defect, however.

A woman younger than 35 might consider amniocentesis if any earlier screening procedure such as an alpha-fetoprotein test or ultrasound indicates the possibility of a genetic abnormality. Amniocentesis is also sometimes used later in pregnancy to determine the lung maturity of babies at risk because of premature labour. Although the procedure provides an opportunity for women to anticipate many potential defects, any woman considering it should also bear in mind that in rare cases it can reveal abnormalities about which little is known, thus leaving her to make painful decisions about whether to carry the fetus to term.

The eagle flew and swirl round over my head, flying in a circle or two. I quickly take out my camera to shoot the beautiful moment. It flew higher and by the time I had taken a shot of it, it flew away from my sight. Clara saw it as well. We were both marvelled.

The eagle reminded me of the song, On Eagle’s Wings which I had learned from the church. It was a nice song and today as I listen again to the song, my eyes were filled with tears. Water crowd my eyes as I was touched, very touched.

During this Chinese New Year, as usual, in my family, I am the one who look the worst… is the worst indeed (shall elaborate in another post). I was feeling bad about it. As for I Am Peace, I was not able to write any posts for quite some time. I wrote in to them and was told that they do not allow sponsored posts. I was not aware of that before. I do not have leg cramps, I do not have legs swelling, but I have itchy legs or rather itchy feet. The itch is so intense that I have to scatch it. The more I scratch, the more itchy it becomes. Soon, blister appears. I burst the blister, otherwise I don’t have to walk anymore. It was pain, very pain…… but with the pain, the itch subsides…..

This is one of the pregnancy leg problems. Another problem is not so much of a problem, but unsightly. It is the appearance of spider veins and varicose veins. Then there is a ‘butterfly-shaped’ bruise which refused to recover since the first trimester. It does makes my legs ugly with all these (only happens during pregnancy). I hope it will be gone after delivery!

I had mentioned about Animals Behaviour, and put up a video on Animals I had seen at Admiralty Road West, Woodlands, on 7th September 2008. It was a day where I had seen almost most of the animals, including the Komodo Dragon, the four-legged snake… And it is said: If anyone was bitten by a serpent, he looked at the bronze serpent and lived..

Do you think you are really MONKEYS?
This is what monkeys do. Monkeys go rubbish bin to look for food, eat food from the rubbish bin, the garbage. Monkeys snatched food from people. Monkeys ‘have sex’ or ‘make love’ anytime anywhere. Monkeys do not bathe themselves. Monkeys do not wear clothes. They exposed their bodies, their genital parts and yet, they have instinct! They are innocent animals, pure, and harbour no evil, no harm of any thoughts on any people. And yet, they are not stupid animal, though they are innocent. They know what is on your mind. This is their instinct!

Looking at the comments of the video Humans Are Monkeys, some even commented: Monkeys made gods. This is so ridiculous. That is real ‘true’ and that is why this is an upside down world.

Monkeys See, Monkeys Do
But we are better than Monkeys. We are better off than animals. There are animals with four legs, animals with two legs and animals with wings. We have hands and legs like the monkeys do. Monkeys have tails and we don’t have tails. The only animals I do not see on that day at Admiralty Road West is cats, not a cat was seen at all.

How DO YOU SEE yourself, YOUR REFLECTION
In terms of physical differences, there are plenty to mention, but there are many other valuable lessons we can learn from both animals and people. The most important difference which we are unlike animals is the use of language, the ability to talk with words, written and spoken. Humans is a better way of classifying us, PEOPLE, which might belong to the subsets of ANIMALS. But we are the HIGHER ORDER of animals, the HIGHEST OF ALL, the MASTER of all the animals, the master of our own lives as well.

Education
Monkeys don’t go to school. People go to school, the lucky people who can afford to go to school. The older generation of people might not have the ability to go to school, just like my mother. However, that does not mean that PEOPLE WHO GO TO SCHOOL MUST BE “MORE EDUCATED‘ than people who do not go to school!

Noise or Sound or MUSIC
Animals make sound. Monkeys have their own ’sound’, Cats have their own and dogs have their unique ‘voice’ too. We might not be as ‘capable’ as the plants, being able to make their own food, but we have all the ‘ability’ and ‘talent’ to STUDY and research about plants, making new plants, propagating new hybrid of plants and so on. We are intervening into nature in so doing. Intervention, good or bad? That is what happens and the difference between animals and PEOPLE. How do you see it?

HOMO SAPIENS
I am a supreme being, a human being, capable of higher order thinking than the animals, able to have self-control, and the power of compassion and kindness. I am certainly not an animal, though I might belong to the general subset of animals, as one of the creation of God. But as the superior being and creation of God, we are capable of learning from animals, learning from people and be BETTER than animals and not to BEHAVE like animals.

Organization, Power And Control
The study of language and different subjects in school (construction and building, engineering), the development of the schools, the ‘management’ of the country and so on, all depends on the talents of people. Nomenclature, the giving of names has provided so much convenience to the society. And for this one thing, the intelligence, the ability to create and use tools, has created many conveniences and comfort to men…. Animals don’t use MONEY, but people ‘invented’ MONEY…..

Eat the RIGHT FOOD
We are omnivorous, anything we eat, but PLEASE care about what you EAT.

A good teacher inspires the students
Lately, or not so lately, Clara’s form teacher had given birth and now was unable to teach in the school. Relief teachers were called for, at least two. Ever since the change of teachers, I did not see the enthusiasm in her studies — coming home with ‘no words’ to share. When Mdm Chua was teaching her, she came home always saying,”today teacher says….” or even asked me questions! But the relief teachers now, she also told me, “lousy”, “always asked the children to do this and that…” I asked the names of the relief teachers. At the time of change, she told me that the Principal had told them about it. But we parents are not informed of the change. (Even for my son’s case, their Chinese Class also undergoes several changes last year, but I was not informed of any changes. I called the teachers, and NO HELP at all…. what kind of collaboration is this?)

Relief Teachers
I was told that the relief teachers were very experienced teachers. I had seen ‘older generation’ teachers, fat, thin, Malay, Chinese, men and women. Sometimes the ‘older generation’ teachers did not ‘brush’ up on their skills, did not ‘upgrade’ themselves, and their ‘knowledge’ remain stagnant. Consider the education of last time, what the people used to study; and compared it with now, our Primary School Students are learning more things than the last generation of Primary School Students.

Work Load of Teachers
Teachers need to mark a lot of things, and it is not easy to be teachers. There are demanding parents you have to entertain, there are lots of responsibilities not only over the children’s academic areas, but also their safety in the school. In the school, the teachers still have other duties to cover… and plus their own personal life after work…. But these are the things you ought to know and be prepared if you want to ‘earn the money’.

Answer Sheet
Multiple Choice question is the easiest to mark. 1,2,3 or 4; or a, b, c, or d. Clear-cut marking. But when it comes to open-ended question, teachers need to read each and single questions….. very time-consuming and ‘headache’ especially for higher Primaries — there are so many pages! (I look at my son’s exam papers, I also feel ‘giddy’…. imagine the poor teachers need to mark for 43 pupils in the class!)

(a) Describe, meaning what you see…. Based on the drawing, the stem is indeed thin.
(b) The stem creep up the fence because it cannot stand upright itself. It needs support so it can stand. Why wrong?
So this is one of the ‘Specified questions’ I asked the relief teacher to look into.

The first day returned the papers, with no answers/corrections done. As usual, I am not satisfied with some of the markings… I wrote a letter to the teacher, asking her to go through the specified questions…

The next day, the relief teacher called me, and explained to me. After that corrections was done…

Model Answer: (a) The plant has a weak stem.
(b) It creeps to get maximum sunlight.
Are you plants before? What is really meant by weak? If the plant is weak, would it have ENERGY to CLIMB up the fence? Are you describing what you see or ‘Interpreting’ what you think of the plant?

No marks were given or awarded to any of the ’specified questions’(I was not satisfied with the answers). But who am I? I am not even a qualified teacher! People teaching in the school! I go fly kite!

How is the electromagnet useful? Model Answer: The electromagnet will separate magnetic materials from non-magnetic materials. This is what the electromagnet CAN DO. Isn’t it what the electromagnet does? But when we want to talk about USEFULNESS, what is usefulness? Useful means how it can HELP people, how it can HELP people to reduce time and reduce energy. To move or transfer vehicles (scrap cars, damaged vehicles) from one place to another and even to stack up the vehicles is its usefulness!

Why the fish die? The oil caused the fish to die, is it wrong? Children’s brain, Primary 3 only, and simple answer like that is wrong! Only more complex answer like “there is not enough oxygen to make the fish stay alive” then is perfect answer??? (1 mark only!!! so simple question yet so difficult…)

Or Would You Prefer Suffocation
When I squeeze your nose, do not allow you to breathe, do you say you died of ‘no air’ or do you say you die of ‘not enough oxygen’?

Science, Do you know everything under the sun?
Aren’t you confusing the kids even more like that? I, 大学生(Da Xue Sheng), University graduate, From National University of Singapore, I dare not say I know everything. I have many things yet to discover. Say what you want about 大学生, and see our NUS standard, our MOE standard, our teachers in Singapore…..

I was a relief teacher. I was not a qualified teacher. Yet, I know what is called teaching, handling the class, teaching the class, ‘projecting my voice’, tried my best to impact my knowledge to them.

I was an untrained teacher, yet I had experienced how it would be like to teach full-time in the school. I had made the teacher’s pledge before. I had forgotten about it. But I searched the web for it.

I am who I am today, because I have firstly, my mother, my father, my brothers and sister, and then the rest of the members (nephews, nieces and in-laws). I am who I am today, I must also thanked all my teachers, from Kindergarten to the University.

This is me, my first child, on the day I was supposed to be discharged from the hospital, Mount Alvernia Hospital. I was fat, so much overweight, but I DID NOT NEED TO GO any slimming centres AT ALL. I had NEVER need to go SLIMMING TREATMENT. Look at my weight now you can be your own judge whether what I am writing in my BLOGS are all the truth, from MY HEART.

Even though I am no more a teacher, Tell Me, what is a teacher? DO YOU NEED TO BE EMPLOYED to be a teacher?

National Service: WHAT IT REALLY MEANS
My official National Service begins and it is now fighting, fighting for my nation, my Singapore. We must reshape our nation, see justice to be done to our people.

Just finished my ‘pai sai’ (passed motion), after I had finished published this comment on my blog post on BioFocus International Experience.

WHO CAN BE MORE POWERFUL THAN GOD, the original creator
God is so wonderful. He gave me all the encouragement FIRST before I ‘happened’ to see this comment. I did nothing wrong. I do not even know who is the director of this company. I do not even know her face. Who publish all the comment? It is all email and name. The real identity, nobody knows. But, in court, I know that I need to swear in front of the Bible! It is God who inspired people who write the BIBLE! DON”T YOU FIND IT WEIRD AND FUNNY IF I AM GOING TO BE SCARED TO BE CALLED TO HIGH COURT if all that I had wrote, all that I had done in all my blogs are all my honest experience and feelings.

Defamation Letter from BioFocus International Pte Ltd

Received this mail by hand from the ‘despatch rider’ (Richard said,”Don’t look like despatch rider, wear until like that, no money to hire despatch rider, one of them….”)

Don’t even know who is this person, curly hair, wear long-sleeved shirt and wear spectacle. Just ask me to sign on the letter, and I sign, and he gave me this letter.

Client: I did not even know who is the client, who is the boss, who is the caller who talk to me, everything I don’t know, but only pay them money for treatment of my face. Upon leaving, I was asked to have a lucky dip…. It was a rebate, and turn out ‘psycho’ me about signing up for subsequent facial treatment…. over 2.5k and after the rebate would still be about 2k…. the paper was crushed after that, throwing into the bin.

I asked about free gift? No such thing.

Why should I defame them? Do I hold any grudge against them? Do I know anybody there?

I worked in Mount Elizabeth Hospital, I worked in Schools, I worked in Real Estate, I worked with Prudential. Did I hold any grudge against anybody? Did I defame any of these people whom I ever knew on my website?

MY CONSCIENCE IS CLEAR. I went confession on 16 August 2008. I told father Terence my sins. Ask Father Terence if I had told him whether I tell lies a not.

Let me die a miserable death, let me be knocked down by car, let me be struck by lightning, these are words which people like to swear. I don’t know if it is wrong to do that, but my father did that, and until now, my father is well. And I swear, all I said is the truth, based on my experience, REAL EXPERIENCE, not any kind of paid review they are offering me or would I have any monetary returns by writing all these, but WOMEN BEWARE, who are the women?

Your daughter, your wife, if you are the MAN. Would you want your wife or daughter or the women themselves to be lie in the ‘hands of these people’? I would show you more proof and evidence of what I gathered.

REMOVE IMMEDIATELY from my blog? Over my dead body. Singapore, do we want a better living in SINGAPORE? Do you want to see such conspiracy or whatsover here. An aesthetician who never care about customer, but want money? I wrote in my blog, I have two scratch on my face, did they ask about my welfare? SINGAPORE, is there justice?

Is this the proper way to do business? IS this called Excellent Service Award — the red merlion head logo? Tell me, LEE HSIEN LONG or LEE KWAN YEW, and all the MPs and my MP here, ELLEN LEE, is there JUSTICE? Don’t tell me you would not be aware of this matter, are you internet savvy? We are Singapore citizen. What our school teach us and what our NATION teach us? WE ARE YOUR RESULTS. TELL ME, is this the LAWFUL WAY to do business in SINGAPORE, treating woman, an unemployed woman, ordinary housewife, bored the nation two kids, one boy and one girl, ‘listened’ to your free advice, and now seeking your free advice, am neither a lawyer nor doctor.

Some women are just lucky to find themselves rich husband and they can go shopping everyday, spend money on cosmetics and spend money on food, eat what they like and do what they like — going monthly facial treatment and massage etc.

Not many women are lucky. Not many men are so lucky to get good job also. Not many men can afford to give so much money to a wife who is not working, but always spending money too!

Some men have all the qualification, but don’t want to work. Some men, have not much qualification and must slough like a dog, day and night. Lucky if the couple can support themselves. But how many really ‘lucky couples’ can we see in this world now?

We are regular customer of Popular. Books are ‘nutritional supplements’ for the brain.

These are what we bought at Popular. The pens belong to the children and the books belong to me.

It is 1.06am, 15th August 2008 now. How can I sleep? I cannot sleep already, after this LIFE THREATENING CALL from BIOFOCUS. I was so excited about going to the church today. It was my first time, first time to celebrate Assumption of Virgin Mary. I saw wonderful sights, I have no time to write yet, but so fear of this issue now.

What is God’s plan for me? I had not learned everything yet. I thought I wanted to learn, I thought how nice life is going to be for me since I had known God…….

It was the first thing I received when I just reached home. The woman with a loud and coarse voice, with the mobile phone number ending with 588 threatened me with these words,” WE ARE GOING TO TAKE ACTION” and put down the phone. TAKE ACTION, these two simple words but full of hidden meaning in it. HOW CAN I BE SAFE from this moment? Am I inviting trouble in the first place on the 3rd July 2008? A lesson learned, but a price, a BIG PRICE going to be paid… and now I don’t even know what is going to happen next. They got all my personal details, how scary!!!! I wonder how safe is Singapore going to be from this moment now.

Anyway, we went Causeway Point first before going to church. I bought books at Popular. I bought My Singapore and Stamford Raffles. I had borrowed books about Stamford Raffles, but I still wanted to buy. I had books on History of Singapore, but I still wanted to buy, MY SINGAPORE….. They are not cheap. It cost s$24.61 and S$9.10 respectively. I still wanted to buy Pioneers of Singapore, but I had to watch my budget.

The National Coat of Arms or State crest together with National Flag was designed by a committee headed by Dr Toh Chin Chye. Both the State Crest and the National Flag were launched on 3 December 1959 at the installation of the Yang di-Pertuan Negara at the City Hall steps.

This is our Singapore State Crest. I had just taken the photo yesterday outside QiHua Primary School. Our Singapore flag consists of two colours, red and white — red representing brotherhood and equality; white representing pervading and everlasting purity and virtue. The five stars represent the five ideals of Singapore, democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality. The crescent means a young and growing nation.

If I suffered in silence, if I am scared of everything, would there be progress, would there be justice, to the rest of the women in future? By voicing out, we are merely helping each other to improve and we hope that we as consumers can be protected in some way (Since it is our hard earn money and it is our SKIN, our body that knows all the pain!)

He said to the cow,”Ah Gu (cow), today I have created you! Your job is to go to the field with the farmer all day long. You will provide the energy to pull the bullock cart. You will also provide milk for people to drink. You are to work all day under the sun! In return, you will only get to eat grass. For that, I will give you a life span of 50 years.”

Ah Gu (cow) objected,”What, I have to work all day in the sun and I get only to eat grass. On top of that, I have to give my milk away! This is tough and you want me to live 50 years! No thanks, God. I’ll just live 20 years and you can have the remaining 30 years back!”

God agreed.

The next day, God created the dog. He said to the dog,”Ah Kow (Dog), I have created you for a purpose. You are to sit all day by the door of your master’s house! Should anyone come in, you are to bark at them. In return, you will eat your master’s leftovers. I’ll give you a life span of 20 years.”

Ah Kow (Dog) objected,”What! I have to sit all day by the door and I have to bark at people and what do I get… leftovers! This is just not fair. Okay, God, I tell you what,”I’ll take 10 years and you can have the remaining 10 years back!”

God agreed again.

On the third day, God created the monkey. He said to the Monkey,”Lao Kao (monkey), your job is to entertain people. You will make them laugh by acting stupid and making faces. You will also do somersaults and swing on trees to entertain them. In return, you will get to eat bananas and peanuts. For that, I’ll give you 20 years to live.”

Naturally, Lao Kao (monkey) objected,”This is ridiculous. I have got to make faces, be a clown and make people laugh and swing around all day on trees, doing somersaults. That’s a tiring job and what do I get for all this hard work? Bananas and peanuts! Bad deal! I tell you what, God, I’ll just take 10 years of my life, thank you very much and I’ll return the other 10 years to you.”

God agreed again.

On the fourth day, God created Man. God said to man,”You are my best piece of work. You will only need to sleep, eat, play, sleep, eat, play again and do nothing else. You will get to eat all the best food and play with all the best toys. All you need to do is to enjoy life. And I’ll give you 20 years to live to enjoy life.”

Man objected for the opposite reasons,”What, I have only 20 years to live and enjoy life? I tell you what, God, I’ll take the 30 years that Ah Gu, the cow returned you. I’ll take the 10 years that Ah Kow, the dog returned to you. And I’ll take another 10 years that Lao Kao, the monkey returned to you.

So that means I’ll have 20 years myself plus 30 years from Ah Gu, plus 10 years from Ah Kow, plus another 10 years from Lao Gao, making a total of 70 years to live? What do you think God?”

God being such a good natured person, agreed with the suggestion.

And because of that arrangement between God and man, man eat, sleep, play and enjoy life for the first 20 years of their lives when we are growing up; and then we work like a cow for the next 30 years of our lives to raise our families; and then we bark like a dog for the next 10 years of our lives at our spouses because of the empty nest syndrome when we retired; and finally we make faces and perform monkey tricks for the last 10 years of our lives, to entertain our grandchildren.

This is not a true description of why God created man. Destiny of man as seen in Psalm 8:1-9

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise
because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet: all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

“Why do you say that?” asked the customer. “Well, you just have to go out in the street to realise that God doesn’t exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can’t imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things.”

The customer thought for a moment, but did not respond because he did not want to start an argument.

The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber,”You know what? Barbers do not exist.”

“How can you say that?” asked the surprised barber. “I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you.”

“No!” the customer exclaimed. “Barbers don’t exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.”

“Ah, but barbers DO exist!” answered the barber. “What happens is people do not come to me.”

“Exactly!” affirmed the customer. “That’s the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens is people don’t go to Him and do not look for Him. That’s why there’s so much pain and suffering in the world.”

God Exist, and there is only One God in this world. Jesus is the Son of God, Son of Man…

These are spaghetti I had cooked for my children for dinner.

After cooking dinner, I went to the window. Standing at the window, I saw the two cute mynas at the roof. They were singing. Then there were aeroplane passing by. I began to think of my mother. When I was young, my mother pointed to me whenever she saw aeroplane. She would say,”See, aeroplane!” My mother taught me words.

Looking out of the windows, I saw more birds flying, yellow, black, small and big, flying singly and flying in groups. It was such a comfort —- it was the thought: The Lord is my comfort when I am down. I was so sad, sad over the matters of the aircon. How selfish Singapore Man can be and how Man can behave in so many faces at home, in public, in front of friends and in front of families.

I am very grateful that I have a good mother, a mother who sacrificed so much, who works very hard and who endures so much. Marrying him, it is a ‘mirror’. I get to appreciate my family more and I get to know what is a family.

I never envy other people who earn more, and I never want to be like other people. But CMK once told me, “…not to compare myself with other people…” He thought that I always compare… This is how people can perceive differently. You look at me, I look at you, but in our mind, we think of different things. They thought I was a proud person, snobbish and treated me with ‘cold shoulder’ (treating someone who was able to talk well better, able to curry favour them… scolded me and said,”how long have I taught you?” — when that was the first time, and I did not even know anything…)

That was how biased people were in this society. How people judges according to look and judges according to family background. The one staying in landed property was treated with higher priority and more respect — very obvious, but that is a fact…

Anyway, I learned. I seen their colours. CMK said,”What shall I write? …. Cannot get along with staff?” I said, “whatever!” Is it going to make any difference? No. There is no confidentiality. There is no structure, but biased and not respectable person I see. I remembered every bit of him, from the start till the end and everyone of them. There are good and bad in everyone of them, no one is perfect, but that is how people discriminate and judges…..

When nobody understand you, the Lord soothes my soul. I understand what is Lord now, and I understand what is God now, and I believe in the creator of heaven and earth, the one true God who gives Light to this world. Even though I had sinned, God is so merciful. At 7.30pm, the bird still remained there. It was how amazing the wonders of God. It seemed to say,”I will be with you.” Just like what Veron had said,”He dwells in you and you in him.” She was speaking of Jesus, our Lord, my Master. The sky was so special too. It was like a phoenix, with a long tail.

So I am very grateful, grateful that I have a great mother and a great family, my brothers and sisters are all united and helping one another. My family is blessed, my nation blessed.

The disciples had listened to what Jesus had to tell the Pharisees about keeping all the rules.

“Are you saying that we need not keep Moses’ law any longer?” they asked him. “Certainly not!” Jesus answered. “I have not come to do away with God’s laws but to show how they are really meant to be kept.”

As they talked, he led them to the top of a grassy hill, where they could sit down and listen while he explained things to them.

The Law of Love
“The laws God gave through Moses will never be out of date,” Jesus said. “They will last as long as life goes on. But the endless rules and regulations that the Pharisees and law teachers have added do not help you to obey them.

Listen! The law says that if you kill someone, you must be punished. But murder begins in the heart — when you are angry or jealous, or hate someone. If you are really going to keep God’s law, you must deal with the bad feelings inside you, not just with the crime of murder. God’s laws teach us to love him and to love one another, not simply to keep a set of rules. We must obey God from the heart.

The rules say that you must not be unfaithful to your marriage partner and if you want a divorce you must sign the right papers. But God made marriage to last a lifetime. He wants couples to be loving and faithful to each other, without even looking longingly at someone else’s partner.

You have been told that as long as you love your friends, it’s all right to hate your enemies. But the law of love says, “Be kind to your enemies too”. You see, if you are going to take after your Father in heaven, you must behave in the same way that he does. God sends sun and rain for everyone — good and bad alike! He gives his good gifts to those who don’t deserve them, as well as those who do. You should be like God — loving and giving. It’s the generous, open-handed people who will themselves receive happiness and love.

“Don’t criticize others. Imagine someone with a big plank of wood stuck in his eye offering to remove a tiny speck from someone else. No one is so free of faults that he can see straight enough to put others right.
